The other side...?

Have you started feeling at home in Cartesio yet? The town has offered you every hospitality that its citizens could think of. They love every corner of this town and they want you to feel the same. Have you accepted Cartesio into your heart yet?

Then it should be comforting to wake in your hotel room. A ceiling you have gotten used to, the warmth of a blanket surrounding you, your own breathing... and silence. All-encompassing silence.
It perseveres when you leave your room, it perseveres when you leave the hotel... Cartesio is quiet because there is nobody in Cartesio who could be making noise. It's a ghost town.

There is only you now, you think. And then, just as you've given up, a noise comes to your ears. A voice, unmistakably. It's time to follow it.

As of Week 5 you may see random objects and buildings of any size flicker. For milli-seconds they seem to glow on and off, blur around the edges, even distort a little. It only happens for a moment at a time, but it happens fairly often.

Welcome to the Cartesio Graveyard. Your character has woken up in a version of the town that is devoid of citizens, but there do seem to be a few people around. Time to explore the mysteries of the other side. For a more thorough OOC guide, we have compiled an FAQ.

[ He probably looks better without the tank top. Nine is going to move away from the reception's desk to get closer. Helping himself to thrown an arm around him to tug him towards the rooms. ]

Hey, which one is yours?

[ Not trying to change the topic, but privacy sounds pretty nice right now. Especially with the whole deal with the Sergeant part hanging there. Ket's get to that in a moment... ]

She didn't kill me. [ Would Nine actually share if some day she does? Who knows. They will cross that when they get there. Right now, he is being honest. ] She's a lot like me.

[ Bakugou stumbles at first and fixes Nine a glare, but his body betrays him because he feels himself kind of just go along with it anyway. The tension doesn't leave his shoulders just yet or anything, because he's really in a mood - and he spits out something like: ]

Number one.

[ So, they arrive there pretty soon and strangely enough he's quiet as they enter, after Nine's said those words. It takes him a few moments, but when he's speaking, it's clear that the fire hasn't died down. ]

You're not like her. Don't say that, alright? You're not anything like her! Why would you think that?! Why would you--you're better than she is. Even if you did what you did--you're still better than her! You're an idiot sometimes but you're not a complete asshole! So why...?!

[ He hates how he's trembling, and feeling so raw. So weak - it's never something he wants to show in front of anyone. He doesn't understand, how could he think someone like that was worth the thought to relate to? Is there something he's missing? Part of him is glad he did start to lead them towards rooms after all. ]

[ At first, he's hit with the whole holy shit I'm in his room feelings, but that falls away as soon as he hears him. As soon as he starts trembling. Nine pulls him over to the bed and then helps himself to sitting on the edge.

Once again, he's split between the shared backgrounds between him and Clarisse, and what he shares with Bakugou. ]

Most of my life has been just following orders and fighting. Before coming here, I didn't know anything different.

[ And from what little he's gotten from Clarisse? How she needed to be better than Nine and needed to be useful? She knows what that's like. ]

[ As a note when it sinks in for Bakugou they're both in his room, alone, that's going to be hilarious. As of now, though, he's pulled over to the bed, though he fixes Nine another glare, nudging him roughly, but seeming to just kind of do nothing much else, listening to what he has to say. As expected, upon hearing that, he just looks kind of displeased. ]

So, what, she told you she was the same, huh? Maybe she should've actually thought about not being a selfish shithead before she decided to fucking kill me. And you know what? Maybe, JUST fucking MAYBE, I don't like it when she's treating you like shit, and you just act like you don't fucking care! Just because she had a similar background to you doesn't mean she's allowed to do whatever the hell she wants! AND JUST MAYBE, I don't like it when it sounds like you're taking her side just because of it! Tell me I'm wrong and that you weren't back there, because that's what it sounded like!

[ He knows he's a shithead. There's no ifs and buts about it; he's trying to work on it even before he and Nine got together. As for Clarisse...He doesn't think there's anything there to improve on. He knows he should've stopped, he does, when Nine first intervened too, so he knows he's not altogether innocent here either. But. ]

And you know what? I get it now. But I don't like it, because it's a bullshit reason to have to put up with her all the time when I'm pretty sure she's not gonna give anything back. Are you actually really expecting that?!

[ There's a lot to react to, but the part of her killing Bakky gets him to flinch a bit. It's easier not to think about that. Easier not to feel like that's partially his fault for being the goal to beat for Clarisse.

He opens his mouth to respond, but then it hits up that some of the anger isn't just that. Bakugou is mad because she treats Nine like shit. Lifting his head to look at him. Like at the library, like at that night they were sitting on the floor, and even exploring the lodge... they really are in this together.

Nine knows if this was reversed, he'd go kick Clarisse's ass. He knows that's a big reason as to why he was stupid about what he said about Clarisse was because he was irritated himself and trying to focus on the task instead.

Moving to put his hand over Bakugou's to snag it. ]

Hey, I wasn't taking her side, yo. I screwed up and went too far with sharing what I did.

[ Because he knows Clarisse already feels like she's useless and thrown away. ]

You know why I want to try so hard with communicating to that side? Why I keep trying to get you both to knock it off?

[ Bakugou just keeps making a face, like he wants to look like someone completely and utterly pissed off, except that doesn't entirely work now. It did earlier, but with all of the feelings coming down, including things unsaid, his own insecurities amongst all of them, and even his own worries, it felt too much. So when Nine finishes, successfully holding one of his hands, he gets to see the blond's angry tears, and the blond's fingers grip onto Nine's painfully tight. ]

Fucking whatever! Fine.

[ ...He rubs at his face with his hand, feeling ultimately just frustrated. The second time he's only cried here and it's been Nine who's seen it. ]

Obviously, you want to help the others on the other side, that's why. It's easy to figure out. I'm not an idiot. [ ... ] You were probably trying to get us to knock it off because every time we [ or him with his explosions, he notes, feeling kind of guilty and he hates it ] fight we could make it harder for us to communicate with them or get someone else uninvolved hurt.

[ The crying kills him in a way he doesn't expect. He finds himself reaching over to snag the other hand away from his face. ]

It's not just that, hey. Yeah. I wanted to give Sakura and Millium the best shot to getting the hell out of here, but it's not just that.

[ He leans in to kiss the corner of his eye if he lets him. Then he's just going to rest his forehead against him. ]

I want to give you a reason to keep hoping. I didn't want to see you look like that ever again. [ Good going there. Bakugou is crying and angry and it's thanks to Nine. Thanks to this whole shitty situation, but especially to Nine. ] I don't give a shit about most people here or there, but I want to try for the ones I do give a shit about. And you wound up being on top of that.

[ Between his strength, ability, and just... everything else he's learned and has seen? Bakugou is probably at number one before Nine even realized. ]

[ There's a moment that when Nine reaches over to grab at his other hand he's about to try to pull it back before he can, but he's kind of too slow so when he pulls back his hand, he accidentally tugs the other blond's hand back too. So he just looks kind of like he just said 'fuck it', and so that's how he managed to keep his other hand too.

He'll turn his head slightly because he was still very much and clearly upset, but all that ended up making was the kiss landed on his lips instead of his eyes. In the end, he won't make a move from him laying his fore head against him. ]

I should just kick your ass out right now.

[ That comes out in a mutter and he finally tears one of his hands away from Nine's in order to lightly punch him in the arm, before lingering to rest it there in the same spot. ]

...Back then I knew you were trying to give me hope too. [ ... ] I thought it was stupid at first. Then somehow that changed - maybe it was that stupid smile of yours, then that strength to look forward even still, and then everything else followed after. But, if you didn't want to see me like this again, things should've gone differently back there. Not just what I said or what you said, but when also you went straight after her.

The situation's shit, and it's done now, but I just don't want it to happen again. You fucking owe me, Nine.

[ The kiss landing against his mouth isn't going to get any complaints. There's a moment where he considers just going with it and seeing if he can a kiss, but the other blond's words has him hesitating. He should kick him out, but Nine definitely notices he's not actually doing it.

He doesn't make a noise about the punch, letting it happen and finding himself surprised that it's not as hard as he expects. Tilting his head a little to kiss against the corner of his mouth instead. ]

Hey, it won't happen again.

[ He knows it'll be hard putting it in practice, but he does mean it. He needs to actually think more. Because it did hurt the person he didn't want to hurt. ]

There anything you want?

[ Nuzzling against him. He can think of some ways, but knows that'll definitely get his ass kicked out. ]

[ Bakugou allows the kiss to happen, of course, and at Nine's words, he seems to sort of let down from his tense form, letting out a sigh of sorts, but he'll just lean in to give the blond a kiss of his own after the question. At least he doesn't look angry or as upset anymore. ]

Yeah. How good are at giving a massage, huh?

[ He's suddenly so drained. Being sent through an emotional roller coaster really has put him into 'sleepy mode'. ]

[ He'll make a soft little sigh in response to the kiss. Reaching up to brush his knuckles lightly against Bakky's face. Can't pretend he didn't see the tears this time, so let's try to erase whatever remains of them. ]

Let's find out.

[ Going to drop his head to his shoulder to press his lips there. ]

Turn around, yo.

[ Unless you want him rubbing your side and chest. Nine has no issues with that too. ]

[ This time he doesn't try to grab away his hand or anything, letting him take away the evidence of it - he feels his cheeks flush when the other blond gives him a kiss on his shoulder. ]

Alright, fine.

[ Bakugou begins to just turn around while he's on the bed. He is definitely not ready for a frontal massage right now, pfft. ]

Don't fuck it up.

[ Thump thump. It's the way he looks when he goes red that drains the last of the tension and everything about today. There's something he wants to say, but he's not entirely sure if it's the right thing to say or how true it can be.

So he'll settle on something else as he nuzzles against him before letting him go. ]

You know, this is the first time I've been in here.

[ He let's his gaze travel down his back for a moment. From what he can make out from here, baby got back. Bakky might see the light glowing from his hand, but there's no sparks, heat, or ice coming from there. If anything, he'll feel kind of a warmth. Nine can and will totally cheat by using a light version of a cure spell.

Dragging his other hand down Bakugou's back to feel where it's needed the most. The sarge has severely limited Nine's magic reserves, so he has to make it count. ]

Hey, if I fuck it up, I can always kiss it better.

[ He might anyways, even with the shirt there. ]
