The other side...?

Have you started feeling at home in Cartesio yet? The town has offered you every hospitality that its citizens could think of. They love every corner of this town and they want you to feel the same. Have you accepted Cartesio into your heart yet?

Then it should be comforting to wake in your hotel room. A ceiling you have gotten used to, the warmth of a blanket surrounding you, your own breathing... and silence. All-encompassing silence.
It perseveres when you leave your room, it perseveres when you leave the hotel... Cartesio is quiet because there is nobody in Cartesio who could be making noise. It's a ghost town.

There is only you now, you think. And then, just as you've given up, a noise comes to your ears. A voice, unmistakably. It's time to follow it.

As of Week 5 you may see random objects and buildings of any size flicker. For milli-seconds they seem to glow on and off, blur around the edges, even distort a little. It only happens for a moment at a time, but it happens fairly often.

Welcome to the Cartesio Graveyard. Your character has woken up in a version of the town that is devoid of citizens, but there do seem to be a few people around. Time to explore the mysteries of the other side. For a more thorough OOC guide, we have compiled an FAQ.

[ This particular song is coming from a cassette player in the back of the store, but that is by far not the only electronic device around. ]

[Olympia experimentally presses Stop, then Play to see what surely incredible and unexpected thing happens.]

[ Elvis takes a little break and then starts singing again. Unexpected indeed. ]

Huh. [ The words are too small for him to see like this. But he'll trust her. ]

They're pretty oldschool.... I'm not sure anyone back home has used these in ten years, maybe more. [Is there anything worth noting around the player? Or are we back to trying to find a way to play Stacey's Mom.]

We have t.v.s and radios, but... never anything like those.

What do you use to record media, then? Did you skip right to discs, or...?

[ The player is totally normal aside from being outdated. ]

[Then let's explore the shop a little. What other machines are about for the haunting?]

They're somewhat old-fashioned, but I know what the symbols mean. [That should work, right?]

[cartesio]

[ A few more cassette players, a vinyl record player, several old school TVs with VHS tape players, some video cameras and of course a looooooot of old music and movies. ]

[...huh.] Hold on a moment. [He'll run off to grab his own VHS and try playing it. Does that seem to do anything?]

[cartesio]

[ His tape plays... for the most part. There is a whole lot of grain and noise over it - though it is possible to recognize Cartesio and some of the residents, all glitches and especially the lodge are impossible to recognize due to the video damage.

Additionally, the audio is missing entirely. So much for old technology, huh?

Meanwhile a cassette player seems to have decided it is Beatles time. ]

[ While that is going on, he's going to grab a video camara and hook it up to the tv. He's going to try to record the others who are in the store. Say hi Fran, Oly, and Nagisa. ]

Hey, let's see if this works.

[Olympia looks at the camera.]

[ Hrm, it doesn't seem like you can film and display on the TV at the same time. The tapes will have to be made first and then inserted into the player after completion.

Luckily you have a lot of tapes, for many smaller videos. ]

[silvertongueheir]

[Grabs a random piece of paper and quickly draws on it.] Alright, I'm ready. [He holds it up. It has a drawing of a birthday cake, as well as his two Pokemon with question marks next to them.] Hopefully this works...

[Muttering.] Does anyone here know sign language?

Yeah. The cassette inside is playing the music. You can stop, play, fast forward, rewind, or change the cassette entirely.
